Pre-certification Audits

The aim of a pre-certification assessment is to provide an independent, structured evaluation of an organisation’s management system against the applicable ISO standard(s), replicating the approach and depth of a formal certification audit.

The assessment is intended to benchmark the maturity, effectiveness, and conformity of the management system against the relevant management system requirements (Clauses 4–10) and, where applicable, associated control frameworks, in order to identify strengths, gaps, and improvement opportunities prior to certification.

For ISO 27001, this includes evaluating the Information Security Management System (ISMS) against ISO 27001:2022 requirements and the selected Annex A controls. 

For ISO 9001, the assessment reviews the Quality Management System (QMS) against quality management requirements and process effectiveness. Where an Integrated Management Systemis in scope, the assessment considers alignment, integration, and consistency across the applicable standards.

The outcome of the pre-certification assessment is to provide clear, actionable findings that enable the organisation to:

• Understand its current readiness for certification
• Address nonconformities and weaknesses proactively
• Improve confidence in the effectiveness of implemented processes and controls
• Reduce certification risk, rework, and audit disruption
