About the Founder & ISO Lead Consultant
About Jerry Lawrence
I am an ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and management systems consultant with over 25 years’ experience helping organisations design, implement, and mature effective Quality and Information Security Management Systems.
My career spans software development, cloud services, manufacturing, aerospace, and regulated medical device environments, giving me a strong practical understanding of how ISO standards must operate in the real world—not just on paper. I have led and delivered hundreds of internal, supplier, and pre-certification audits, and I am known for helping organisations move beyond “tick-box compliance” towards systems that genuinely support business objectives and risk-based decision-making.
Most recently, prior to forming Integral Management Systems in July 2025, I worked with CertiKit as a Compliance Consultant, where I supported SMEs and larger organisations across the UK, Europe, and the USA in achieving successful certification to ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and integrated management systems. This included gap assessments, transition support to ISO 27001:2022, pre-certification audits, and ongoing audit programme delivery, consistently achieving high first-time certification success rates
My Story
I started out upon leaving school as an Engineering apprentice working in a classic manufacturing engineering company and studying for my engineering qualifications (BTEC). I then went on too pursue a full-time degree course, after that moving into a graduate programme in Software for BAe Systems. After this I transitioned into Software Assurance and Quality roles working for a number of Defence companies.
Later in my career, I held senior Quality and Information Security roles within technology-led organisations, including responsibility for ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 13485, TickITplus, and CMMI implementations at both site and group level. I have led large-scale management system transformations, reduced audit nonconformities, improved process maturity, and delivered measurable cost and efficiency improvements through pragmatic system design and risk-based auditing approaches,
Integral Management Systems was established to provide SMEs with the level of expertise typically only available to much larger organisations—combining deep standards knowledge, strong audit discipline, and a practical, supportive approach that helps clients achieve certification with confidence and sustain it long term.
My Approach
My approach to a successful ISO 27001 implementation or ISO 9001 implementation starts with understanding your objectives—your timeline, scope, and expectations—ensuring that the work is proportionate and focused.
I prioritise building a strong, practical foundation for ISO management systems: clearly defined scope and context, roles and responsibilities, risk management, supporting processes, meaningful controls, critical process identification, performance measurement, balanced audit programs, and effective management review.
Where ISO 27001 certification is the goal, I introduce information security controls and Annex A only after the core ISO management system is functioning properly, avoiding premature implementation. Additionally, I support the selection of appropriate ISO certification services aligned with your expectations and budget, and I can provide readiness reviews and pre-certification audits to maximize first-time certification success.
